Item boxes are a reward from playing online quick matches or Co-op games. To receive an item box in-game, you'll need to gain experience (exp) in a match. The item box is automatically opened after a successful completion of a game, win or lose. The item you get from an Item Box is associated to the class that you were using when you earned an Item Box during battle. If you want to collect gear for a particular class, make sure to start with that class when you begin a match.

There are five levels of item boxes, with each level increasing the value of the reward. As well as this, two types of item boxes are available per level:

  • Blue (low tier)
  • Red (high tier, usually gives 3 items) much less common than the blue box and much more likely to give low tier items - These are no longer avaliable to earn in the Season 3 update, however they are still avaliable on the Steam version.
  • Gold (Highest tier, level 5 boxes have a chance to give super premium items) You can only get these buy purchasing a premium pass with Happy Tickets from the item shop (Not avaliable on the Steam version).

Level 1: Usually gained after building the first tower. It usually contains garbage/beginner items. (Blue: 10-20 exp, Red: 30-40 exp)

Level 2: Gives slightly better items than the level one box. (Blue: 80-100 exp, Red: 130-150 exp)

Level 3: Gives better items than the level one and two boxes, but isn't as good as a level 4 box. (Blue: 200-300 exp, Red: 300-400 exp)

Level 4: Has a chance of rewarding much better items than level 1,2, and 3 boxes. Level 4 boxes can give good items ranging from Premium items (marked with a star next to the weight), to garbage/beginner items that can be found in a level one box. (Blue: 400-500 exp, Red: 500-600 exp)

Level 5: Has a chance of rewarding much better items than level 1,2, and 3 boxes. Level 5 boxes can give good items ranging from Premium items (marked with a star next to the weight), to garbage/beginner items that can be found in a level one box (seen in the picture above). (Blue: 700+ exp, Red: 800+ exp) Getting a level 5 box is random after every game you end with a level 4 box.

Scores in all 3 categories, like killing, healing/support, and switching classes will level your box up more consistently than only killing.  In co-op, this means playing a full game of 15 minutes.
